Sweet Potato Pie

This is my favorite Thanksgiving side dish! The creaminess from the sweet potato mash airs beautifully with the crunchiness from the pecan crumble. The balance of garlic and sweet is spot on!


Sweet Potato Mash

5 large sweet potatoes

3 tbsp light olive oil

1 tsp garlic powder

3 cloves of garlic, crushed


Boil a pot of water. Peel and slice the sweet potatoes. Place the sweet potatoes in the pot and boil for 8-10 minutes, until mushy. Drain the water completely. Add the olive oil and garlic to the pot and begin to mash. I like to use an emersion blender but you can use a hand mixer as well. Pour the mash into a 10 inch pan.


1 1/4 cup raw pecans, finely chopped

1 1/4 cup oat flour

1 1/4 cup organic brown sugar

3/4 cup oil*

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

Combine all the ingredients together in a bowl. Sprinkle the crumble over the mash. Bake for 15-25 minutes, until the crumble is nice and crispy!
